Review: Rippin Good Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookies

I had to run to the grocery store last night for a few things and, because I made the mistake of going in there when I was hungry, I ended up in the store’s snack food section (I used “buying something for dessert” as an excuse even though we were going to have apple pie that night). After looking at a few other choices, I decided to pick up the chocolate chip sandwich cookies from Rippin Good Cookies.
As the bag said, they were Rippin Good.

When I picked them up I wasn’t really sure if I would like them. I was also concerned our daughter, who remains the pickiest eater I have ever seen, would even try them. But, they were on sale and I figured if I was going to spend money on junk food, I should at least try to save a few pennies while doing so.

As it turns out, there wasn’t a single person in the family that didn’t like them.

The chocolate chip sandwich cookies consist of two small chocolate chip cookies attached together by a cream filling. As I commented to my wife, they reminded me a bit of Oreo Cookies, only with chocolate chip cookies instead of those chocolate cookies.

The thing that impressed me about these cookies was just how fresh they are. I don’t know if they tasted like they were fresh out of the oven. But, they were still soft when you bit into them; rather than crispy like many other brands I’ve tried in the past. The cookies were full of chocolate chips and the cream filling was sweet enough to add a unique flavor without being too sweet (something I hate).

The great thing about this particular brand of cookie is you have so many ways you can eat them. You can eat them like a sandwich (which is what my daughter and I did) or you can break them apart, eat the filling first then the cookies (which is what my wife did). My daughter, who usually just eats the cream filling out of Oreos and doesn’t even touch the cookie part, ate a couple of these by herself and liked them so much, she insisted on taking a couple of them to my parents so “grandma and grandpa can try them.”

If you are ever in the snack aisle looking for dessert (or using that as an excuse because you really are just hungry) I would recommend giving these a try.
