El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burritos – Food Review
Need a quick meal? Tired of the same old, same old? El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burritos can feed a hungry family in minutes. Alread a fan of the El Monterey line of frozen foods, I decided to give their Bean & Cheese a Burritos a try. Here is what I discoverd about this inexpensive microwave meal.
El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burritos are available in the freezer section of grocery stores and discount department stores that carry food products. The burritos are packaged in a thirty two ounce bag that depicts two very tasty looking burritos on the front. The front of the package advertises that these frozen burritos contain no Trans Fat, which is very appealing to those of us who take that very important nutritional information into consideration. I paid only $2.99 for this product which is quite affordable, considering there are eight servings included.
El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burritos couldn’t be easier to prepare. They can be heated in the microwave, oven or deep fryer. My preferred method is the traditional oven. After removing the burritos from the freezer bag, they are placed on a baking sheet in a three hundred and seventy five degree preheated oven. The burritos are then cooked for twenty to thirty minutes for thawed burritios and slightly longer at thirty to forty minutes for burritos taken right out of the freezer.
Each El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burrito contains two hundred and forty calories. There is a total of seven grams of Fat, five milligrams of Cholesterol, two hundred and seventy milligrams of Sodium, thirty five grams of Total Carbohydrate, two grams of Dietary Fiber, one gram of Sugar and eight grams of Protien in each one burrito serving. Ther is also two percent of the daily recommended value of Vitamin A, four percent of Calcium, two percent of Vitamin C and six percent of Iron.
El Monterey Bean & Chese Burritos can be dressed up with a bit of salsa and a dollop of sour cream, although they are extremely tasty all on their own. The beans are not only very flavorful, they are also quite plentiful in each burrito, which is a great source of protein. The cheese filling is delicious and melts thoroughly during preparation. The outside tortilla wrap comes out of the oven quite soft, but with just enough firmness to keep the wrap intact as the burrito is cut with a knife and fork. I have prepared this product in the microwave, but found that the micrwave makes the burrito so soft that it falls apart after one or two bites, thus creating a very tasty but messy meal.
I always keep my freezer stocked with El Monterey Bean & Cheese Burritos. The affordable price, quick cooking time and delciuos flavor makes this product a family favorite.
